I Want the Red Eye!

Last year every morning I would pick up a Red Eye newspaper before going to class to catch up on celebrity gossip and news. But this year, where is the Red Eye? One night at dinner Joe Piatkiewicz was expressing his disappointment that we do not have it anymore especially because it is a free paper. He really misses the crossword puzzles and Sudoku. The students have spoken; we want the Red Eye back!

  1. This has come up at an RSA meeting in the past. People not only wanted the Red Eye, but also the Trib. From what we know, a bunch of offices, including Res Life, pitched in to get our Trib subscription. This never happened this year/money is tighter. And apparrently the Red Eye was never really ordered, it just started showing up. It is assumed that they just brought it with our Trib, or we were just on the drop-off route. I miss it too...

  2. The least Dominican can do is get rid of the Red Eye stands. It is such a tease to have the stands and not the paper!

  3. Last week, the Tribune's front page editor came to my newspaper and magazine editing class and was shocked to find out that DU no longer gets the Red Eye or Trib. wtf. He said he'd look into it, but who knows? I think we should get it back. Like ASAP!

  4. I agree about having the stands being taken away. It's not fair to have them there but there are no Red Eyes to fill them. If we don't have the newspaper anymore, then the stands shouldn't just be left abandoned. I agree with Megan, it is a tease to have the stands there.

I did talk to a Res. Hall Director a few weeks back about this and she said that it mostly had to do with the cost of it (for the Trib. at least since Red Eye is free).

  5. Touche.

At the start of this semester when I'd come to campus, I was always shocked that ALL the Red Eyes were gone! Usually at 9:30 a.m. there would be at least a FEW left! Then I found out the truth. I mean, at the very least if we can't have the Tribune, the Red Eye is free and I'm sure Dom can cough up the cash for delivery.
