This week is Hunger and Homelessness Awareness and DU is doing it's best to help out.
Tonight was Resident Assistants Rosana Godinez and Megan Russell's Free Rice Program. Students were given a bowl of rice in exchange for $.50 or a non-perishable food item. Extras such as veggies, chicken, or sauce cost additional money or item.
Russell explained that the purpose of the event was "to raise awareness about the hungry and homeless population of the world. I think it's going awesome. Great turn out and people have an interest to help out."
The program had a fair amount of participants, considering this wasn't just a free hand out of food. Freshman Corrine Zimmerman said that she really enjoyed the event. "It was really good. Great idea!"
Check out some pictures of the events.

Love the pics...and the post! I knew it was Hunger and Homlessness Awareness, but didn't know the event was going on. Very cool, though! Hope they had a good turnout.
