The sculpture was a huge undertaking and also a unique record of many Chicago structures which, ironically, also met their fate at the hands of unimaginative stewards or developers.Greg Richardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01726048334767797627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8665370619184300191.post-29174272717351099562016-02-19T16:08:19.269-06:002016-02-19T16:08:19.269-06:00Disgrace another stupid moveDisgrace another stupid moveAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15801032564094111092noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8665370619184300191.post-71134213791180365282015-08-17T10:25:13.878-05:002015-08-17T10:25:13.878-05:00Couldn't agree with you more Tamir... I can't even express how large of a loss this really is... And the complacency here is simply depressing... Makes you think all great works will someday find their undeserved fate among the ignorant masses, all in the name of "progress."Jon C.http://forgottenchicago.orgnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8665370619184300191.post-78982232601113887862010-05-10T02:53:30.706-05:002010-05-10T02:53:30.706-05:00How come one only finds about these things too lat...How come one only finds about these things too late!

This is a really sad piece of news ...
The Form Makers was considered to be a significant work of art when it was originally installed in the Sherman House Hotel. The re-siting to Rosary College (nowadays DU) was a generous and not inexpensive act in itself. Apart from the original donors, I wonder how much effort was made to track down the UK-based sculptor N H Azaz, who, under US Artistic Rights legislation should have been notified before any part was moved.Tamir Azazhttp://www.a2z.uk.com/sculptor/nh_azaz.htmlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8665370619184300191.post-70755703540296496542009-10-31T15:02:06.240-05:002009-10-31T15:02:06.240-05:00Thanks for this posting. It's sad to hear of its fate, but some things have to go unfortunately if DU wants to expand. And we sorely needed a new science/academic building. I heard how outdated the lab equipment was in the old science building. But I'm always up for interesting art pieces - the larger the better.Diana Kobylarczykhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11443478412078622441noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8665370619184300191.post-13829485235273051132008-11-17T23:19:00.000-06:002008-11-17T23:19:00.000-06:00What an enlightening piece, Sir. I'm glad to finally know about what really happened. And I agree with you that the piece offers more opportunity for growth at Dominican!Natalie Tolomeohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07530223024647106251noreply@blogger.com
